About Us

The Tyler Area Association of Legal Professionals is a legal association for paralegals and legal assistants in Tyler, Texas.  TAALP, as it is known today, was founded in 1983.  It began as the Tyler Association of Legal Assistants.  In 1990, it merged with the Tyler Legal Secretaries Association, founded in 1964, and the name became TAALP.

TAALP consists of approximately 100 members from the Tyler area.  Our members meet once a month, wherein they are able to obtain CLE credit.

CLE hours are not mandatory for TAALP membership.  Many of our members enjoy the benefits of socializing and networking with other professionals in their field.  From civil litigation to bankruptcy to criminal law, you can always find a TAALP member who is willing to mentor other legal assistants.

Our monthly meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at the Woman's Building in Tyler, Texas.  For directions, click here.
